Ethiopia Economy

Ethiopia’s economy is based on agriculture, accounting for 47% of GDP, 60% of exports & 80% of total employment. The principles exports from agriculture are coffee, oil seeds, pulses, flower, vegetables, sugar & foodstuffs for animals. The economy has grown stronger as the transition from a command to a market based economy takes place. Ethiopian service sector comprises 41% of the GDP and the industry sector about 12% of GDP.

Ethiopia belongs to the COMESA agreement, member countries enjoy preferential trade terns and Ethiopia has similar agreements wit a number of countries & the EU.
